Benson Henderson vs. Rafael dos Anjos Highlights

Benson Henderson vs Rafael dos Anjos

Some are calling this one a quick stoppage by John McCarthy some agree he is just doing his job by protecting Henderson.

Take a look at the highlights and let us know what you think, and not to sway your decision as I am a fan of Benson Henderson but fighter safety must be paramount in this sport and the third person in the cage has a tough job when he or she has to stop a fight.

Matt Secor Signs With WSOF

WSOF

Matthew Secor has signed with World Series of Fighting and will be fighting September 13, 2014 at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. Matt will be facing Ian Stevens in the cage. Secor is the second professional fighter from the area that will be fighting on the September 13th card. We told you earlier in the week that Thomas Marcellino signed with WSOF and will be fighting the same night.

As we receive more details we will keep you up to date.

Matt Secor Signs With WSOF

Judgement Free Zone My A$$

Planet Fitness

I do want to start off and let people know this is an opinion piece written by your truly and though I may not be the next Mr. Olympia, people do deserve to be treated with respect. I frequent Planet Fitness in Hudson NY and for some time now. Why do I keep giving them my money? It’s simple actually, Planet Fitness knows no matter how they treat you, you will come back or we really don’t care they are taking your monthly dues out each month. Me it is a necessity that I go as I have more metal in my body than most of their machines and I really don’t feel like travelling a 1/2 hour to go to a decent gym, just to keep me moving.

What do I mean about being treated with respect you ask? This does not include all their employees as they do have about three people on staff that are friendly and will take the time to say OK when you check in. Others after you give them your member number they go back to watching TV or bullshitting with other employees. A simple OK or fuck off would suffice, something to acknowledge that I have checked in.

They have a personal trainer on staff there I have seen on the floor a few in the last few months. When she is not strategically placed behind the counter sneaking in her texting time, she is making fun of people coming in or working out. What happened to the Judgement Free Zone?! Well that’s not present here. And would it kill the employees to walk around the gym and maybe pick the filthy place up? I have seen Tootsie Roll wrappers in the same bike I go to daily for the last week! I used to pick it up, but it’s not my job remember I pay to go there (silly me). The other girls (not all of them the Manager is super nice and another one is very pleasant) behind the counter love to chime in and make fun of people. Just a helpful hint just because it appears that someone is listening to music because they have earphones in that may not be the case. I hear you and as much as you make fun of people you must be very displeased with yourself.

But they don’t poke fun of all the visitors as they have their favorite law enforcement officers and other people that are their favorites. If you have been to a Planet Fitness you know the type of people I am talking about. You have the old guy that reads the entire New York Times sitting on a machine not working out, the LEO that carries his shaker cup with him and can be at the other end of the gym and come to the machine you are on and let you know he was using it (I think not). It’s actually a shame, but this is the Judgement Free Zone (yeah right). Once again I do not lump all the LEO’s that are in the gym, just the ones that may not not like the shirt you are wearing because you support a group or don’t look like you because maybe you don’t look like a law abiding citizen. How about those with swamp ass that don’t wipe the machines off. I just wish once an employee would let those that don’t rid the machine of swamp ass ask them to wipe it down. Is that a lot to ask for? If I am waiting for a machine and someone doesn’t wipe it off after leaving their signature on the machine I usually ask them for a “courtesy wipe”. I usually get the odd look or the mumble telling me to go fuck myself. It’s all good I have broad shoulders, but an employee should tell them not me. Now they can’t be everywhere at once, but if they left from behind the counter they would see what is happening in their facility. Don’t even get me started on pizza night. I stay clear away that day because people sit on the machines while eating their pizza and employees are sneaking pies to their vehicles, quite comical to watch, but I am getting old and my patience at times wears thin and my big mouth says things and I don’t need to be judged more than I already am there.

So why don’t I do something if it’s so bad? I have! I have been on the phone with their corporate office and have even been in contact with their local GM and they truly don’t care at all.

Even though tomorrow I will be right back at Planet Fitness in Hudson NY, my year is coming up for renewal and guess what I WILL NOT be renewing this time around, even though I said I need to keep moving I would rather not give them my money longer than I have to.

Daniel Cormier Discusses Jon Jones On Inside MMA

AXS TVS INSIDE MMA

In an interview on AXS TV’s Inside MMA tonight, UFC light heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier discussed his relationship UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones that included a flair up earlier this week at a press event and an off-air exchange after an interview with the two fighters.

Highlight quotes from the interview include,

Cormier on the aftermath of his the past week’s events:

“You’ve got two of the best fighters in the world fighting for a championship…. I think we need to focus more on that than all the stuff that’s happened outside of the cage. The stuff that’s happened outside of the cage isn’t good. It’s not a proud moment for me, it’s not a proud moment for Jon [Jones]. So we have to carry ourselves better and show people why they’re really tuning into the fight.”

Cormier on potential disciplinary action from the UFC or the Nevada State Athletic Commission:

“It hasn’t happened yet. We kind of expect for it to happen. You can’t behave in that way and not expect some sort of punishment. Whatever they divvy out is gonna be just and we’ll move forward from that.”

The full interview with series host Bas Rutten and guest host Ron Kruck, who filled in for series host Kenny Rice this week, is available here:

Next week, INSIDE MMA returns to its regular time, Friday, Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

A local promotion is advertising a fight that is being held tomorrow night in Amsterdam NY with pro fighters on the poster. As MMA Journalist has stated Marvin is a great guy and this poster is old, but it makes you wonder is this just advertising for ticket sales because both fighters are well versed in the sport and wouldn’t risk their careers.

We will continue to bring updates to those that are wondering what is going on, and we thank those that are concerned with the sport we all love for bringing this to our attention and we will continue to try to get to the bottom of this.
