Interview With Dennis Day Jr. Amateur MMA Fighter

Dennis Day Jr

Dennis Day Jr. took some time out of his hectic schedule to answer a few questions we asked him to let the fans know a little more about this up and coming amateur MMA fighter. Dennis will be facing Dave “The Warrior” Brock for the Tri-City Heavyweight Champion at Cage Wars 19. Cage Wars 19 will be taking place at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany NY on May 11th with the doors opening at 6:30PM. Tickets for Cage Wars 19 can be purchased for Cage Wars Website.

Now let’s see what Dennis had to say.

Age:36

Height: 5′ 7″

Weight: 215lbs

Association: Independent

Disciplines:Wrestling and Boxing

Wins/Loses: 0-0 (1-1 actually record, but at the fighters discretion he has vacated this record)

I’ve been in MMA for about six months now. I was a wrestler in highschool and about six months ago my younger brother Joe Gosart asked me to be in his corner for one of his fights, and I’ll be honest, I was hooked. A few of us started a gym and got on some local cards, and there its pretty much history. When I’m not training or watching an opponents fight video’s, I am a dedicated father of six amazing children. I am also an avid golfer, no limit hold-em’ poker player, and Call Of Duty Black Op,s II Junkie.

What Does It Mean To Be An Amateur MMA Fighter:

I really like this question because I get this asked of me a lot at work. Especially before this fight. I’ve been talking a lot about my up incoming fight with Dave, and when people see a picture of Dave, the first thing they ask is if I’m suicidal, and the second question is how much I’m getting paid. lol. And after I explain to them there is no money involved, then their next question is, is always why would you want to get hit in the face for free… And my answer is always the same, “if takes a special kind of person to walk into that cage, its not for everyone”. Normally they just shake their heads and walk away from me. lol

What do you do to prepare for an upcoming fight:

Cardio, and watching tape is all I can say…

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I have two for this fight, my brother Joe who is one of my corner men, and my mom who showed me with hard work, anything can be achieved.

What would you say your biggest strengths are and what is the thing you need to work on the most:

My biggest strengths are heart, not backing down from any challenge, and game planning. My biggest thing I need to work on is experience and time in the cage. And now that I am part of the Cage Wars family, I hope that I can build on that from this fight.

What’s your favorite strike/submission to use in any fight?

Wait and see

Do you like to stand with your opponents or take them to the ground?

Can’t give away everything here,Fans buy your tickets for Cage Wars 19 and come out and see the best New York has to offer in Amateur MMA, Often imitated, but never duplicated.

What holes do you see in Dave Brock’s game?

Honestly I am a fan of Dave’s. I think Dave is the whole package. If I had to match him up to someone in the UFC I’d say he reminds me a lot of Cain. I’m just looking forward to getting into the cage with what I consider to be the best of the best that New York and possibly the entire East Coast has to offer. I can’t grow as a fighter if I don’t get in the cage with who I consider to be the best of the best.

Dave Brock has a strong stand up as well as ground game, what do you think you will be able to capitalize to get the advantage when you face Dave on May 11th?

Only time will tell.

How and what round do you think you will finish Dave Brock on May 11th?

All I can say is that we are going to put on on hell of a fight for the fans and may the best fighter win.

Anything you would like to say to Dave?

Two warriors are going to enter the cage, and regardless of the out come, two warriors will walkout of the cage with their heads held high knowing they gave everything possible. I plan to leave everything I have in that cage and I expect no less from you. I am very much looking to go to war with you sir, may they best man win.

What are your predictions for Cage Wars 19 (concerning the other fights)?

I am still very new to the Cage Wars family, so I’m not going to give any predictions, but I am looking forward to one hell of of a night of great fights.

If you could have one dream fight with anyone, who would it be?

This is a simple one for me, most guys would pick one of the super stars from the UFC (Jon Jones being my personal favorite since we went to the same high school and my little sis tutored him in high-school, and want to see him kick Anderson Silva’s ass). I want to come up with a catch weight for me and my brother (who also is my corner man and mentor) to fight at. It would be great to see who has learned more in this time, the student or the teacher, and if Cage Wars would want to promote that, I know we would be all for it…

Summing it all up where do you see yourself in your MMA career five years down the line?

This is something that myself and brother had talked about tonight. We would like to open up a gym/school for up-in-comers who are new to the MMA scene who want to join a gym where they can grow as fighters and not have to worry about the “politicalness” of the fight schools in the area. A gym where you can learn and grow without being worried about outrageous costs or judgments.

Thank you Dennis for a look into what drives you, see you on Saturday at Cage Wars 19!

Interview With Dave "The Warrior" Brock Tri-City Heavyweight Champion

Dave Brock (6)

I have done a lot of interviews in my day, but none like the one you are about to watch below. Dave “The Warrior” Brock took time out of his busy schedule to talk shop with us in the Hoodlum Fight Gear Team Brock’s Office. Watch the interview unfold as one of the greatest warriors on the scene shows his passion for his little girl, his family and the sport he loves, MMA. Don’t let the exterior fool you Brock is well versed and can either bring his game standing up or to the ground and he does not take his training lightly, this warrior will work out for 3 hours and for good measure work out another hour and this is with out adding his training at night. Brock has no problem putting in three 10 minute rounds with only a 30 second break in between. If you have watched the previous interview with Brock he talks his “X” factor, here he will talk about it a little bit more and give us insight on what he means when he talks about his X factor.

Now Brock has put this challenge on the table, and he is serious when he says this. Brock told us he would gladly step into the cage with current UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez right now for no paycheck, no belt, just Velasquez and him to show the fans what he is about. Brock would like to see the sport that he trains for become legalized in New York State so he can bring the big show to them in his hometown as he considers all of his fans a driving force and feels they deserve to see him fight professionally in New York State, but if he has to travel and fight the Heavyweight Champ some where else there will be a road trip in store for Hoodlum Fight Gear Team Brock.

In the coming months we will be visiting Brock as well as his team members giving you a look at where they train and how hard they go at it. If you could take one thing from this interview we ask you to take this, do not judge the book by the cover and take a look at Brock in a little different light after this interview we found out that he is a humble man, that grew up fighting and has the determination and love of his family to make it to the big leagues, so Dana White we dare you to come take a look at this fighter we may have seen one of the greatest knockouts on the last season of The Ultimate Fighter, but you haven’t seen nothing until you have seen Dave “The Warrior Brock” deliver his knockout blow that will devastate the best fighters out there.

Be it Bellator or UFC, expect to see Dave “The Warrior” Brock make his professional debut in January 2014!
