The Victorium Episode II August 10, 2013

We have some information we wanted to pass along to our readers and even though this event will be taking place in Fredericksburg Virginia on August 10, 2013 at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds, 2400 Airport Ave. we think you will find it very interesting as The Victorium Episode II “Fight for Victory” is fighting for a local boy with his fight with cancer! How awesome is that. We have been in contact with The Victorium and this isn’t a onetime thing as all their events center around a charity that they raise money for.

Here is a segment about Sam the young boy The Victorium is fighting for taken from Victorium’s website:

Sam is 12 years old. He has an identical twin brother named Joe and an older sister named Claire. His parents have their own business, an bread bakery called Staff of Life Bread. He loves Star Wars, legos, running, and being with his friends.

Last July, to the shock of the family, Sam was diagnosed with Leukemia. He began an intense treatment over the course of the next 8 months with bouts of chemotherapy, hospital stays, and several medications. Finally Sam went into remission and was cancer free.

In late April, during a routine blood test, the doctors found that Sam’s cancer had relapsed and the cells were showing up again. Sam had to re-start his treatment again, only this time he will undergo a bone marrow transplant to try and rid the body of this disease once and for all. He is currently at UVA receiving chemo and then will head to Duke for the transplant. He will have to stay at Duke for at least 3 months. It is a hard, arduous process with a lot of risk.

Since Sam’s parents are self-employed, they will miss a lot of time and income trying to take care of Sam and their other two kids.
