Former Boxing Champion Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini Defends MMA

AXS TV Hosts Discuss the 20th Anniversary of the UFC

Former Boxing Champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini defended the sport of mixed martial arts in response to the controversial comments made by current WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner about MMA on AXS TV’S INSIDE MMA with series hosts Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten.

Said Mancini:

“I worked with a lot of these guys with their hands, they’re great guys, great athletes. I’m gonna tell you, Broner doesn’t know because he never trained that way. These guys, once you go in the dirt, it’s a whole different game.”

During the interview, Mancini also said that he would have been an MMA fighter if it were around when he was still fighting.

Legendary newsman and current host of AXS TV’S “The Big Interview” Dan Rather stopped by INSIDE MMA for an interview with Rice where they talked about subjects ranging from the issue of head concussions in MMA to Rather’s amateur boxing career.

Also during the show, Josh Thompson previewed his upcoming UFC fight, describing how he will have to attack his opponent Benson Henderson in order to win the headlining bout.
