New Yorker’s are used to seeing the above image when it comes to their favorite sport. For a long time now legislators have felt that MMA had no place in New York State, but all that may be changing. As we know a lot of amateur MMA promoters have been holding events in areas of New York as a loophole in New York State’s law allows them to hold these events and we know Cage Wars was and is until this day knocking on the Capitals doorstep letting them know amateur MMA is not going anywhere and continues to grow in popularity by the day. That popularity is not just coming from fans as we have witnessed a lot of new amateur fighters stepping up as well as fight team and schools, and we feel this has prompted New York Legislators wanting to look at legalizing MMA in New York State as there are 64 sponsors backing the bill.
We have been following developments concerning legalizing MMA in New York and last night Master MMA instructor Ron McEvilly appeared briefly on Fox 23 News and spoke about what he is passionate about, as well as Assembly member Steve McLaughlin letting the public know what NY is losing out on because of MMA being illegal in NY.
